Kuala Lumpur Post-Harmonic Quintet

not be mistaken with it's name. it's not some non-profit organisation which does charity musical events. no it's not. Kuala Lumpur Post-Harmonic Quintet, better known as KLPHQ in short, is an instrumental post-rock band from Malaysia. the quintet is highly influenced by international bands including Explosions in the Sky, Radiohead, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, M83, and many others. KLPHQ are one of the very few instrumental rock band with minimal vocals in their music aside from Damn Dirty Apes and The Furniture, to name a few. these music usually starts out with silent introduction, building effects and slowly climbing up with hook-ridden rhythms, then to a heavily distorted guitars and angry drums. it's the climax we talk about here. and the climax is very very important in instrumental music. i don't know about the rest of the fans out there, but for me, i listen to how they build the climax, and bring it up, maintaining it for a minute or two, then slowly bringing it back down, and stop.

here's a live gig they played in singapore in 2005. you can also catch their music at their MySpace site. enjoy!
