The Kills - Midnight Boom

Midnight Boom is the third album from indie lo-fi electronica band The Kills released under Domino Records.

12 short tracks filled with powerful, sharp yet indisputable ass kicking music.

Jamie Hince and his musical partner Alison Mosshart believe that your art is something you live, rather than something you merely do. Therefore, the conventional approach to recording an album - write some songs a bit like your last songs, book flashy studio and ear candy-providing producer, be professional and get home in time for tea - is not an option for them. The Kills make music that sounds like the stripped-to-the-bone nub of the crux of the sex and death and madness at the heart of the very best rock ‘n’ roll. And the only way to pull that off is to put themselves through the creative, physical, financial and emotional mangle. “It was definitely a journey,” confirms Alison, with the sanguine air of one who believes that anything that doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. “We wrote so many records before we got to this one. It took a few failed attempts and different situations and going to different places and running out of money in order for us to get it together and write the right record.” (via Domino)

First single U R A Fever was first released late last year. A follow up to the first was Cheap and Cheerful.

Savannah's Song is one of Saw's most well known creation among fans, and was told that the song was written for a die-hard fan who had a crush on him.

The Diggs - Ctrl-Alt-Del

The Diggs is a rock band hailing from Brooklyn. They are about to release their second LP entitled Ctrl-Alt-Del on March 11 under Sugarspun Records.

The trio's sound are astonishingly ear soothing, while maintaining the standards of excellent rock music. A blend of 90's rock guitars, deep baselines, Britpop beats, rhythmic shoegazing flow and those laid back vocals, a perfect match!

The album was recorded at Stratosphere Sound, the studio co-owned by James Iha (ex-Smashing Pumpkins) and Adam Schlesinger (Fountains Of Wayne).

"Ctrl-Alt-Del expands on the aesthetic laid forth by Commute while refining their big sound with leaner and more concise arrangements. The tone of the record is frantic and at times haunting. However, there is a glimmer of hope embedded throughout, where disillusion is broached with nostalgia, and angst is juxtaposed with optimism." - Fanatic

Freddie Stevenson - All My Strange Companions

Scottish folk singer/songwriter Freddie Stevenson has an upcoming full release on schedule to release sometime in April 2008.

"Musically, All My Strange Companions soars. Its sound spans the intricate weaving acoustic guitar and languished lap steel guitar in The Soft Collapse through to the vicious punk stylings of Ordinary Girl and to the out-and-out catchiness of first single of Easy Now. These are the sounds of four great musicians truly playing live; capturing the raw energy that can only come from honest real performance." - Fanatic

Check him out performing Easy Now.

a faulty chromosome - as an ex-anorexic's six sicks exit, ...

a faulty chromosome is an indie shoegaze band from Texas. as an ex-anorexic's six sicks exit is the band's debut full length release which was self-released on February 19.

"a faulty chromosome is a slopbucket of shoegaze tremolo, hand-claps, 8-bit blips, water-damaged mister rogers records, mashed casio chords and drum machine’d beats--all bundled up in a warmish childhood memory of hiding beneath the kitchen table in 1986 with their uncle’s overweight cocker spaniel..." - Fanatic

If you like the sounds of Sebadoh, Belle & Sebastian, Yo La Tengo, Pavement, New Order or My Bloody Valentine, you might wanna give it a try.

Bape x Nintendo DS Lite

Has DS Lite turned into a fashion gadget? We talked about the collaboration between Nintendo with Fragment Design and honeyee.com just a day ago. Now we see another collaboration with Bape! Two versions will be produced, the white and gold. I'm feeling the Mario, but the whole collaboration, what's behind it? Guess it's just another follow-the-trend system. Via HS.
