"The Boy Who Loved Clouds" Solo Art Exhibition by Chin Yew

Art Salon @ SENI is pleased to announce Chin Yew’s debut solo art exhibition showcasing his collection of fulfillment titled “The Boy Who Loved Clouds” premiering on August 9th 2008.

“The Boy Who Loved Clouds” is a series of 40 contemporary paintings accomplished in a preset timeframe of 30 days consecutively in August 2006. The paintings were painted on 12” x 12” canvases, subconsciously translated an impromptu, unplanned story through his vigilant imaginations to a sequence of tale-telling acrylic pictures describing moments during his discovery of spirituality and overcoming the obsession of life. Daily developments were then updated on a blog co-created by Chin Yew himself, known as the 30dayartist on a daily basis.

“I’m all excited and looking forward to this art exhibition. Thanks to Art Salon, now I have this golden opportunity to tell my side of the story to the world,” he commented. The 27-year old artist added, “It only came to my conscious that the 40 paintings were somehow connected with one another, like a storybook. So I decided to fill in the blanks and got myself an eponymous book published, expected to release real soon.”

In addition to the entire collection of “The Boy Who Loved Clouds” paintings, the exhibition will also feature some of his earlier works from his first attempt at 30dayartist in August 2005, which comprise of gigantic 72” x 72” black, white and red paintings inspired by crying boys, fat angels and dramatic faces.

“The Boy Who Loved Clouds” solo art exhibition will be held at Art Salon @ SENI Gallery, Mont’ Kiara from August 9th 2008 to October 7th 2008. There will be an opening reception on Saturday, August 9th 2008, 4pm. Reception is free and is open to the public with light refreshments served.
