The OaKs - Songs For Waiting

Four years ago, Ryan Costello sold everything he owned, joined a humanitarian organization and moved to Afghanistan. He lived there for two years working in the Central Afghan mountains with returned refugees, teaching them creative agricultural techniques and becoming fluent in their native language, Farsi. Later at night, while the dust storms blocked out the stars and rattled the windows, he would sit and work out impressions of what he had seen and heard that day on his acoustic guitar.

In 2005, Costello returned to the United States, reuniting with his long-time creative partner, Matthew Antolick and formed The OaKs. Read on here.

The band's upcoming second full length release will be announced sometime in March 2008, entitled Songs For Waiting.

The OaKs gave me the impression that i'm actually listening to a collab' track between Broken Social Scene and Jose Gonzalez, which it will be one of the greatest collaboration in the music industry if it ever happen. No frowns! Cos' we got OaKs now. Gentle rhythm, stormy beats, powerful vocals, all in a package. Pure good music!
