For Emma, Forever Ago is the debut album by Bon Iver, a moniker by Justin Vernon after breaking up with his long time band, DeYarmond Edison.

He had moved into the woods of Wisconsin during winter for a period of time and developed a nine-track album, getting inspirations from his personal trouble, lack of perspective, heartache, longing, love, loss and guilt that had been stock piled over the past six years.
