amiina's kurr

icelandic quartet amiina recently released their very first full length album, kurr. the all-female band is well known for using a great number of instruments including synthesizer, digital piano, baroque, guitar, celtic, harmonium, melodica, celesta, glockenspiel, cello, viola, violin, gideon harp, glass harp, kalimba, mandolin, musical saw and call bell.

the girls have done collaboration works with post-rock band Sigur Ros on their ( ) and Takk albums. they are touring partners with Sigur Ros too. And one of them are married to the band's keyboardist.

SGK verdict: kurr compromises 12 soothing tracks - a nice blend with multiple instruments can create awesome music. the feel of lying down in the middle of a green field, no disruptions, no obstacles, no fear, no stress, no pain, no nothing. with a bottle of vodka and a couple of joints. birds chirping on the big oak tree hundred metres away from you....it's just awesome...

SGK ratings: 8.3/10
