The Arizona native just wrapped a tour, including packed SXSW gigs winning crowds over with her Katy Perry spunk and Pat Benatar vocal range while leaving one battered keyboard along the way.
Emily Long’s poetic lyrics about emotional upheaval are paired with driving rhythms and delivered with grit and heart. The keyboardist/singer/songwriter is backed by a fiery band of Bret Ritter on bass, Daniel Ryan Espy on guitar, Nik Lokensgaard on guitar, and Zach Jones on drums. Long, who worked with Cyndi Lauper collaborator John Turi on When I Was In Love With, is ironically often compared to the singer because of their similar strawberry blonde hair however, Long turned to more hardcore rock bands as idols.
