pete yorn

that one guy who caught my attention while i was running through some potential artists to listen to. yet i found this guy, american singer, songwriter & multi-instrumentalist, Pete Yorn, released numerous albums under his name, with a back-up band doing the recordings for him.

started out with a drummer for his band during high school, his mates got him to perform a couple of songs, as a lead singer, and there he is.

yorn's music has been appearing in movies and tv series. some of his singles that appeared were life on a chain, strange condition and lose you. his first album, musicforthemorningafter was the bomb. with his follow up, day i forgot, sold over 300,000 copies. his new album, nightcrawler, completes his 'full day' trilogy, beginning with morning, day and night.

Triple Threat Project Tee

a collaboration between mad hectic, stussy and undftd, the triple threat project tee range sure looks good. but, what i'm concern, is who came up with this design first, specifically, the ink splattering style...cos' i've seen one in the stores pretty look much like that, but in polo tee. hmm....

DMST is BACK!

I just gotta say this, DO MAKE SAY THINK IS BACCK!!! After a long wait for their come-back on a new piece, released this year, “You, You’re A History In Rust” really gave me a awesome gawking shock just only by listening to their first track of the album, Executioner Blues. A major shock to me indeed. I cannot believe what I just fucking heard, say.

DMST plays instrumental post-rock. Toronto-based formed in 1995, and recorded demos in the basement of the University of Toronto radio station CIUT. What do they sound like:- jazzy beats + rocking guitars + space gazing electronic effects. That’s super fucking fantastic, i’d say! The climax just hit up sky high when everyone’s in the mood to play some music.

Comprising from various types of musical instruments; guitars, bass, saxophone, flute, trumpet and drums, DMST have been changing line-ups and also been doing lots of side projects with other bands, or even performing under monikers like Microgroove.

DMST has started touring around North America to promote its fifth full length album.

Bonnie "Prince" Billy

a little introduction to one of the many talented musicians out in this biz, Bonnie "Prince" Billy, or better known be as Will Oldham, his birth name. hails all the way from kentucky, oldham is a singer, songwriter and an actor. it's pretty confusing for oldham scenario cos' he has recorded music under numerous names - his own birth name, monikers such as palace, palace music, palace brothers, palace songs, and of course, the existing one and the latest, Bonnie "Prince" Billy, sometimes even shortened to Bonny Billy.

From '93 to '97, bonnie recorded the name of palace, palace brothers and palace music, but since the release of I See a Darkness in '99, bonnie seemed to be quite settled on his primary stage name with Bonnie "Prince" Billy.

a list of albums that oldham had released all these years with his various stage names:-
1993 - Palace Brothers - There Is No-One What Will Take Care Of You
1994 - Palace Brothers - Days In The Wake
1995 - Palace Music - Viva Last Blues
1996 - Will Oldham - Arise Therefore
1997 - Palace Music - Lost Blues and Other Songs
1997 - Will Oldham - Joya
1999 - Bonnie "Prince" Billy - I See A Darkness
2000 - Will Oldham - Guarapero/Lost Blues 2
2001 - Bonnie "Prince" Billy - Ease Down The Road
2003 - Bonnie "Prince" Billy - Master and Everyone
2004 - Bonnie "Prince" Billy - Sings Greatest Palace Music
2005 - Matt Sweeney & Bonnie "Prince" Billy - Superwolf
2005 - Bonnie "Prince" Billy - Summer in the Southeast
2006 - Tortoise and Bonnie "Prince" Billy - The Brave and The Bold
2007 - Bonnie "Prince" Billy - The Letting Go

he's collaborated with other musicians including, David Pajo (one of my all-time favorites) and both oldham's brothers, Ned and Paul, Box of Chocolates, Amalgamated Sons of Rest, The Anomoanon, The Boxhead Ensemble, Superwolf, Continental OP, Current 93, The Silver Jews, Tortoise, Johnny Cash and many many more.

oh yes, and i've totally forgotten about his acting career. he's been featured in movies like Junebug, Old Joy, and a couple more.
