Sean Cliver for Supreme

Legendary skateboard artist Sean Cliver contributed his talents on a pair of Supreme skateboard decks and some matching tees recently. Soon to be available at Supreme stores in NY and LA, or you can just get it online on June 12. That's not it, Japan will be receiving this pack two days later.

Sean Cliver have designed hundreds of board graphics for Powell Peralta, World Industries, Birdhouse, 101 and Hook-Ups for the past decades and is considered as one of the premier artists in the skateboard industry. My Morning Jacket - Evil Urges

Evil Urges is the fifth studio album by American indie rock outfit My Morning Jacket.

Evil Urges will officially be available in record stores beginning on June 10, released by ATO Records. This is the first album that will feature vocal contributions from the other members aside from lead singer Jim James. It was also announced that this new album will sound slightly different than the rest of the previous albums, as quoted "wanted to get out of the normal rock and roll sounds and emulate more of the band's live sound."

The band stretched out their wings on an extensive line up of live shows scheduled up til' October 2008 (as shown on their site), including an appearance at the upcoming Glastonbury Festival on June 29. For the complete list, you can visit here for that info.

Martha Wainwright - I Know You're Married But I've Got Feelings Too

Martha Wainwright is a folk pop singer from Montreal. Yes, yes. She's the sister of baroque pop singer-songwriter Rufus Wainwright.

I Know You're Married But I've Got Feelings Too is her second full length album earlier released on May 10 in Australia. The album slowly peaked up charts after the release - bagging #15 in Sweden, #19 in Australia and #29 in the UK.

The album include 12 new original tracks written by Martha, and two cover versions of Pink Floyd's See Emily Play and Eurythmics' Love Is A Stranger.

Fans of Beth Orton, Feist, Cat Power, Joni Mitchell, Neko Case, Aimee Mann and Lucinda Williams, I'm sure you'll find this entertaining.

Jakob Dylan - Seeing Things

You might know him better as the leading role of Los Angeles Grammy award winning rock band The Wallflowers. Jakob Dylan is on the mark ready to release his first solo album entitled Seeing Things, which is scheduled to release on June 10 under Columbia Records.

Seeing Things is also his first album release since The Wallflowers' fifth album Rebel, Sweetheart in 2005. The youngest son of the inspiring folk master Bob Dylan and ex-wife Sara Dylan, Jakob Dylan promised fans something different from his role as the lead singer of The Wallflowers, and heads on to something towards acoustic-friendly tunes. Therefore, expect something new from Jakob as he strums out these tangible tunes with his guitar and sing them with heart and soul.

Alanis Morissette - Flavors Of Entanglement

Flavors Of Entanglement is the seventh studio album by award winning Canadian singer-songwriter Alanis Morissette. It's been four years since her last release So-Called Chaos. It is set to release in the US on June 10.

Morissette have hinted on an expansion of her musical sound on this new album, which caters more technological aspects on a sonic level compared to the previous albums. She also mentioned that the album compromise more beats and loops that enables one to 'dance your face off'. She also referred this album as a 'techno-sounding but organic' one.

Exclusive Interview with Saxon Shore's Matt Doty

After realizing an upcoming album from Saxon Shore possibly set to hit stores sometime this year (hopefully) and an incredible news on their song Marked With The Knowledge being featured in a series of SONY HD commercials, we got all excited about it and decided to dig for more information.

We managed to get in touch with one of the founding members of Saxon Shore, Matthew Doty to answer a couple of our 'curiosity' questions.


ut: Can you tell us who is your favorite idol and why so?

Matt: I don’t have any idols, but there are a few people I would say I look up to that have helped and inspired me along the way in this little adventure. Kurt Cobain, Dave Fridmann and my dad.

ut: Name us three of your all-time favorite songs.

Matt:

ut: Can you define the best moment on-stage that you have experienced?

Matt: I think the most rewarding show so far, as far as seeing a lot of hard work pay off, was our last show in Tokyo. Was one of our biggest shows, and definitely the biggest where people were actually there to see us. Megaport Festival in Taiwan was also felt the same way. There are a lot of good moments on our tours in the US I could mention, but those are usually good in a funny way. Like, our drummer gets really frustrated or drunk and ends up using his hi-hat stand as a drum stick midway through the last song. Caveman style.

ut: Now, define the most embarrassing moment that you have experienced on-stage.

Matt: Our former drummer (not steve) getting really frustrated/drunk and using his hi-hat stand as a drum stick midway through the last song. Caveman style.

ut: Aside from your equipments, what is the most important thing that you must bring along with you on-stage?

Matt: I think that’s all we bring with us onstage. We usually text message the setlist before the show, so I guess my cell phone.

ut: What shoes do you prefer to wear when you go on-stage?

Matt: No preference. Whatever I’m wearing that day.

ut: Of all the records Saxon Shore have released so far, which one do you like the most?

Matt: Depends on my mood. My favorite song that we’ve recorded so far is “Silence Lends A Face To The Soul”. A lot of the songs on the new album might take its place though.

ut: What's it like to be Saxon Shore? I really like to know.

Matt: Well, lately its a little stressful. New record coming out, no label to pay for it, a lot of members with wives and mortgages now, ridiculous gas prices, etc. So if any fans we might have don’t see us on the road supporting this new record, don’t take it personal.


ut: Tell us about your first gig.

Matt: It was at Broadway Joe’s in Buffalo, NY. We were only a 3 piece at the time and I was super nervous about the whole thing. All went well though and the very next day I went home, quit my job, dropped out of school, and acquired a taste for miller high life/ramen noodles. Not really.

ut: Saxon Shore was featured in a series of Sony HD commercials. Who picked the song?

Matt: SONY came to us with that. We didn’t pick it. We just went along with it.

ut: Talk about your side project with Oliver Chapoy, any future plans for Brightest Feathers that you want to share with us? Maybe releasing an album?

Matt: Maybe at some point. We have a bunch of songs going, but we’re both kind of busy right now so remixes are easier than making an entire album.

ut: Do you guys (Saxon Shore) hang out together when you're not 'Saxon Shore'?

Matt: Kind of. Steve and Oliver live in brooklyn, so they hang out together. I DJ at Royal Oak up in brooklyn once or twice a month so I see them when I’m up there. Willis and I have a pretty similar interest in music/social life so we hang out at least once a week usually. I do some freelance jobs at the place Matt Stone works so I’ll see him depending on how busy things are. And Stone and Willis have been friends for a long time and make music under the name “Soporus”.

ut: We love that 'unnamed demo' posted on MySpace. What's that called?

Matt: Don’t have a name for it yet.

ut: Mind giving us a snippet on the upcoming release, please?

Matt: Nope sorry. Its not mixed yet. We’ll be glad to leak things once they sound good.

ut: Before ending this interview, any advises for fans who want to form a band one day?

Matt: Use contracts.

The Outline - You Smash It, We'll Build Around It

LA experimental outfit The Outline will release their debut full length album You Smash It, We'll Build Around It in the UK on June 16 under 30:30 Recordings.

The band previously released this album in the US on July 11, 2006 under Fearless Records. Why only after 2 years? They're good, why bother?

The Outline will be touring extensively in the UK along with LA's Say Anything and Texas' The Rocket Summers. Tour dates can be found at their MySpace.

According to various sources around the web, we realized that The Outline is hinting on a new album somewhere around the corner. However not much details has been officially announced, aside from a footage of the band recording some new materials in a studio was filmed and circulated online.

Green Man Music Festival In Search Of Bands

Onitsuka Tiger Shoe Design Contest '08

It's been a week since the introduction of the Onitsuka Tiger Shoe Design Contest '08, and of course we hope you still have the time to think of one brilliant electrifying design to submit.

This contest is open to every single living creature who feels like designing their own pair of Mexico 66.

The theme for this contest is Electric Tiger Land, automatically it means the design must be something relevant. To participate, all you need to do is to get a pair of white Mexico 66 at the participating outlets stated in the flyer and remember to get the entry form. Limited to 100 participants so act quick before it's too late.

All designs must be submitted before July 18, the same day as the Onitsuka Tiger Night '08 which is happening at Zouk KL. On that night itself, designs from 15 selected finalists will be showcased in public and the announcement of the winners will revealed as well.

Brendan Canning - Something For All Of Us

One of the co-founders of Toronto-based supergroup Broken Social Scene, Brendan Canning is set to release his first solo album under the wings of the Broken Social Scene Presents series, also the follow up release after Kevin Drew's Spirit If.

Something For All Of Us is set to hit record stores on July 22 under Arts & Crafts. Canning is offering one track from his solo album entitled Hit The Wall as a free download.

Canning is one of the notable veterans in the Toronto music scene. Aside from being a member of BSS and appearing as a solo effort, he's also fronting other great bands like By Divine Right, Valley Of The Giants, Blurtonia, hHead and Len.

Check with your local record stores for availability, cos' this is definitely one that will never get bored of.

The Virgins Debut Release

The Virgins is an indie rock band hailing all the way from New York, formed sometime in 2005. On June 3, the quartet will release their self-titled debut album under Atlantic Records, the first full length release since formation. Previously, the band released a self-titled EP.

The Virgins have presented their talents alongside with bands like Sonic Youth, Patti Smith and Jet, Cold War Kids, Tokyo Police Club, Tapes N' Tapes, The Long Blondes, White Rabbits and Ra Ra Riot.

You can preview some of their songs on their MySpace page if you're new to them. If you're a regular listener, be informed that they will be playing an extensive line of gigs across the country, so be sure to check them out.
