Laundry Music Volume 3

Just like any other Laundry Music night in the past times, Volume 3 seemed to be more on the indie rock side compared to the previous ones. Crowd was pretty humongous, both indoor and outdoor.

The first to perform was the boys from Ipoh, Bittersweet. Somehow, they rocked the crowd, which I guess 60% of them are fans of Bittersweet. But not me. Next.

Next was the men from Paris, France. Utopium. Frankly speaking, I was pretty disappointed after their first song. Lots of mistakes done by the bassist. I guess he's too crowd-shy. The most energetic person was the guitarist. He's really sexing up his guitar on stage. The spirit of post rock. The crowd wasn't that pack when Utopium was playing.

+++

After Utopium was Hong Kong's The LoveSong. This is the best for the night. The crowd were crazy when they started rocking the stage. The frontman was quite cool, although I barely heard what he's singing due to the screwed up mike, but it's all good. The music they played can already defeat the rest of the bands that had performed that night. The fucked up part was there's this bunch of Malay kids who was stage diving and crowd surfing. I know I know. Rock gigs do have these kind of incidents, but fuck, this is no concert, this is just a small gig in a bar! The LoveSong told these boys not to stage dive, but they ain't listening. They still go on stage diving and crowd surfing like it's their gig. So the management has no choice but to get some large-sized waiters to drag them off. But before the 'bouncer' arrived, the boys fled pretty quickly. Fucking cunts.

+-+

Next up was Beijing's TooKoo. I did not stay long for this set, cos' I had to rush to some other venue, but the first or two songs they played was alright. Their introduction was quite bold though. In a multi-racial country, you yelled "Chinese Rocks!", but hey!, who cares? They're just tourists.

A Warning To Musicians

For those who keep themselves updated by reading newspapers and e-papers, I'm sure you have heard about this guy from Muar who was bold enough to work on an exclusive remix version of Malaysia's national anthem, Negaraku. He has too much LOVE for his country and he decided to drop some rap verses for this remix version that he produced. Contents of the song include corruptions, social issues, and culture differences. Sources said he is currently in Taiwan furthering his studies and he often carries a Malaysia flag with him to reveal his patriotism and loyalty to the country.

On the other hand, he was slapped by the authorities for composing such improper song, especially using the national anthem as the rhythm. It's a total humiliation to the country and he should be executed!

He is the brave and bold Namewee. Here's the video he made on the song, Negarakuku.

His attempt were encouraging. It's true. I'm impressed. But he's just doing it the wrong way. He made a pretty bad selection in using the exact national anthem, plus some bouncy beats. I don't know. Just another person caught doing something at the wrong time. I guess he's not the first who did amendments on the national anthem though.

Well, what's done is done. Now let's see whether the authorities would take action on this poor guy. I'm not a supporter nor a hater for his effort.

sir gila k. yells to all musicians out there to think twice before composing a song related to any regarding matter that might offend any religion and culture in Malaysia. And of course the law. Otherwise, you can be the same old mad ass musician you were before. Rock on!

Gwen Stefani is ON!

Aside from the global embarrassment faced by Malaysia due to a small group of people urging the authorities to ban Gwen Stefani's gig in Kuala Lumpur, the request has been rejected and the gig is back on schedule. Sources said as long as she abide the rules on dress code for foreign acts, then it's fine.

Fans won't have to queue again to get refunds now. So, hang on tight and start memorizing those lyrics now and be prepared!

Gwen's Sweet Escape 2007 World Tour will be held at Putra Indoor Stadium, Bukit Jalil on August 21, 2007. Ticket price ranging from RM125 to RM385 and is available via Ticket Axcess.

To recap on Volume 2, we have Weapon X & Ken Hell down.

Check them out! Seriously, please check them out. You will never know when will be their next trip here.

Comedic-Folk: Flight of the Conchords

New Zealand duo Flight of the Conchords recently released an EP teaser to their upcoming full length album this coming October. This EP entitled The Distant Future feature some of the favorites including Business Time and If You're Into It.

I just found out they existed not too long ago, and I have to say, it's really something new to listen to. Here's one of the many videos I found via YouTube on the duo, and I find this one interesting to share with you all. More videos right here.

Skate Life: Skateboard Inspired Sculptures and Paintings

One fine day, J. Shea and Freddie C. got hit by some visionary ideas and came up with this conceptual art exhibition inspired by skateboards and skateboarding. The title of the exhibition is called Skate Life: Skateboard Inspired Sculptures and Paintings by J. Shea and Freddi C. and is held at Gallery 1988 SF.

Just like what the title defined, the art pieces are the mix of some brilliant vector and stencil work with uniquely-shaped sculptured figure of a person skating with its skateboard, which makes the painting looked so lively with a 3D visual to look at. Not just yet, the painting aren't just one fine piece, cos' the full picture of that 'one' piece art has to be combined with numerous small and tiny ones. A brilliant idea, wonderful concept, beautiful work done.

In case you're stuck up to that piece, you can purchase them by contacting the gallery at gallery1988sf@gmail.com, but bear in mind the work don't come cheap. You pay what you get.

For more pictures, please feel free to visit Gallery 1988 SF's preview of Skate Life.

Trust me on this, you wouldn't regret clicking this link... +++

XLarge revealed its latest figure done along with Dez Einswell. Looks really pretty.

Adidas Consortium - Nature Graphics Pack

Adidas recently announced its latest range of their Consortium range, with three sizzling hot pairs of gorgeous looking kicks that consist of an APS, Forum Low and a Rod Lever.

This pair of APS has magnificent details on it's body, specially made to look like a dragonfly skin, that kinda stuff. The baby blue mix seemed quite interesting, but not the brightest of color patterns.

Ladybug-alike Forum Low looks nice too. Some sorta polka-dots print thing.

Bee hive design Rod Lever could be the nicest among the whole range.

DO NOT BAN GWEN'S CONCERT!!!

kindly support us by spreading the news and changing your nickname on MSN/Skype/ICQ/IRC whatever that communicate the world into DO NOT BAN GWEN'S CONCERT!!! This aint protest against which ever parties, this is to support and to voice out our opinion.
•
Sometime, we wait and dream of our idols to come to our country for concert or whatever, and this kind of oppurtunity is hardly to achieve in Malaysia as there're too many restriction. Giving us the reason of her dressing is too obscence, I dont think this is a very good reason, because Internet nowadays are easy to access into porn site, anyone we wanted to read or see, could just simply type in n' search for it.
•
Too sexy? No, this is called Fashion. It's time to open wide your eyes on what is happening on the other part of the World. Look at their cultural, design, art, style and manner, learn the good things from people and stop your narrow thinking. We love our country but meantime we wish all sectors to improve theirselve in every way, in design, art, music, style and way of thinking, just be open minded and this will help the country improve. Yes, we are 50 years old, but we are still far behind from our neighbour - Singapore in every sense.
•
*this isn't a critic post to anyone nor any parties, this is just what many dissapointed youngsters/ design lovers/ music lovers/ artists point of view.

Gwen Got Banned?

Guess pretty much of Gwen Stefani's die hard fans would be having a riot to protest on the recent statement made by a group of Malaysian in requesting to ban that hollaback girl performing in Malaysia, being claimed that her video clips promoting on the gig are too obscene.

Well, I have to admit that some of her videos are pretty tempting, but, why Pussycat Dolls made it here and not Gwen? Wonder why? Me neither. U tell me why.

More news can be found in search engines. Go check em' out.

The point here is, let's hope it's not called off.
