Metric Announce New Album

Canadian new wave rockers The Metric returns with their fourth studio album Fantasies, due to release on April 14 via Last Gang Records.

Their past materials have garnered attention from us - their new wave instance shook our eardrums with their voluptuous grooves, harmonious booms. It sounds ironically desperate, but it's the truth. At least it got us off our desks and started mingling around with a couple of pints.

So if you ask, we're actually looking forward to this new album of theirs. Their first single, Help I'm Alive was released a while ago. An acoustic version of the song is currently available for download on their official page.

Emily Haines and James Shaw are also part of the Canadian supergroup Broken Social Scene.

Last year, Y-Love released his debut album This is Babylon and is still garnering praises for his intriguing effort to blend hip hop, reggae and r&b together which made people impressed, at least we did and still floating with his debut.

However, he ain't staying in snooze mode delivering much more greater tunes for the people out there. Therefore, he teamed up with Crown Heights collaborator DeScribe to give in some fresh tunes for 2009. Both have generated good vibes, their new single Change mixes Y-Love's "militant mysticism with the plaintive urgencry of DeScribe's singing".

Change is one of the four tracks to be included in the The Change EP, to be released on April 28 through Modular Moods.

Elvis Perkins In Dearland Announce Eponymous Album

Elvis Perkins is an electrifying folk-rock musician based in New York. The son of actor Anthony Perkins, Elvis is a talented songwriter which has developed some great folk tunes with his tangible guitar, harmonious harmonica and other instruments involved.

Along with his band called the Elvis Perkins in Dearland, they have recorded some tracks together and compiled an eponymous album set to release on March 10 under XL Recordings. He's not gone too far away from his origin roots delivering exquisite melancholy tunes, something alike his solo debut Ash Wednesday released in 2007.

“On this new record we wanted to capture the spirit of our performances,” drummer Nick Kinsey said. “The challenge was to get down that spontaneity.” Perkins says, “This album is faster and younger than Ash Wednesday. Being in a studio with three other creatives instead of just one was a new thing for me. It takes four times as long to decide everything… but in the end, this kind of interplay made for much good.” - comments adapted from XL.

Alela Diane - To Be Still

Psych-folk singer/songwriter Alela Diane will be releasing a new studio album titled To Be Still through Rough Trade on February 17.

"I wanted to record this collection of songs using arrangements which would represent them in their finest form. These songs requested more instrumental filigree than those on The Pirate's Gospel. It was challenging to delicately yet purposefully incorporate instrumentation into songs that I was so used to singing by myself. I was determined to make it work, because I wanted percussion! I wanted to hear the lonesome bow of the violin! I heard many harmonies in my head, and so I set out to capture them." - a quote by Diane cited from Rough Trade.

Kanye West For Louis Vuitton Sneakers (1 of 6)

Kanye West diggers probably knew about this project with luxurious designer label Louis Vuitton, where the renowned rapper/producer was commissioned to delivery 6 designs of sneakers for the brand. Recently on West's blog, he unveiled the first of the six designs promised to arrive in the near future.

As seen on the picture above, the first design is strongly inspired by the love for boat shoes, it comes in an all-white colorway with the usage of strictly premium materials.

It's one gorgeous pair, we thought West did a perfect decision not to blend in the classic monogram because it's getting rather too common with all the fakers producing them in mass.

We're dying to view the other five designs from the heartbreaker. Check in soon for more!

Converse Japan Jack Purcell RLY D-Ring

The Jack Purcell line has been one of the most successful line in Converse, mainly because of the extra large toe box and the 'smiley face'. From time to time, Converse release a batch of dope colorways to their JPs, even apply extra features to it in order the trainer to glow like a star.

2009 presents a new pair of JP, called the RLY D-Ring. There has been several RLY releases in the past year, but we have not seen one with the D-Ring attached for laces. Application of canvas and soft leather on the upper might not be too appealing, probably the leather and suede mix strongly blends with one another superbly well.

The new RLY D-Ring retails for ¥7,900. Expect this to be available real soon. Visit Converse for more information.

Wow, this is really coming unexpectedly. To commemorate the launch of Louis Vuitton's Stephen Sprouse collection, they produced a skateboard deck with a hard case monogram trunk. Each retails for $8,250, probably the price you may hardly consider to ride on it, and most likely to keep it in a dry cool room with 24-hour security surveillance.

In a statement, the skateboard deck set is only limited to 3 units worldwide. So, either you kill to own, or you line-up outside Louis Vuitton's SoHo flagship store with the flock of die-hard collectors.
